Regina the founder of CWHL niece, Sarah, is the original inspiration of the charity, Children With Hair Loss. When Sarah was just 3 years old, she was diagnosed with Acute Lymphblastic Leukemia. She spent many of her young days in the hospital, during which she went through several chemotherapy treatments. As a result, she eventually lost her hair. Her aunt, Regina often accompanied her to hospital visits and treatments. This gave Regina a first-hand view of Sarah, and other children undergoing radiation treatments who had no hair, or who were wearing ill-fitting, adult-sized, second-hand wigs. Regina was a hairdresser by trade, and she searched for a high-quality, human hair wig that Sarah, and other kids would feel good about wearing. She was unable to find any in the market, or any charities that would provide them for free. It was at that time, sitting with Sarah in the hospital, that Regina saw the need to start a charity that would provide free, quality, human hair replacements for children who had lost their hair due to medical reasons. Sarah is now in her thirties and is the mother of three beautiful children of her own. Throughout her life, Sarah has watched Children With Hair Loss grow from just an idea, into a large-scale national charity, and she has continued to be a proud and steadfast advocate for the charity.
Thank you so much, Children With Hair Loss, for providing my son with his first wig. All the kids in his class went crazy at how good it looked, and his confidence shot out the roof! -Andrea
I will be donating next year to get the proper length but (my) daughter was a recent recipient and she absolutely LOVES her hair piece. We are very grateful people all around have the heart to donate and there are organizations as such who have it in their hearts to do such amazing things for kiddos like mine. -Celina
Our daughter just received her box today, she is thrilled! She lost all of her hair for the second time 3 years ago. She is 10 now! Thank you so much for blessing her with this amazing gift!
My son Adam received his hair piece today! As Alise fron Twisted Scissor was adjusting the hair piece and cutting his hair, I was sitting across from them in tears (that I did have to hold back from my son). For the past two and a half years, everywhere that we go people stare at Adam. Today he felt ‘normal’ with a head full of hair! The hair was beautiful and actually matched his hair color and texture. It was amazing. Thank you for what you do, not only for my son, but for all the children who benefit from your great organization. I could never thank you enough.
