The Norwood-Hamilton Scale
The most commonly used classification system to measure the progression of male pattern baldness is the Norwood-Hamilton Scale. Levels on the scale range from I (little to no hair loss) to VII (balding with only a rim of hair remaining on the sides and back of the head). While the Norwood-Hamilton Scale is a tool used to broadly categorize male hair loss, some men may not find an exact fit or may be suffering from a different type of hair loss condition.
